Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly capable Tech Lead with deep Python backend expertise and proven, hands-on experience building AI-powered systems in production environments. This role combines technical ownership with people leadership, requiring a balanced focus on hands-on development and team leadership. The Tech Lead will be responsible for designing and delivering scalable, production-ready backend and AI-integrated systems while guiding engineering teams through architecture, execution, and best practices. The ideal candidate is a strong technical decision-maker who has successfully taken AI-enabled solutions from concept to real-world deployment and is comfortable owning both code quality and delivery outcomes.
Location: Remote (Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Armenia)
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
* Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable backend and AI-enabled systems.
* Actively contribute to the codebase with hands-on development (approximately 50% of role).
* Architect and implement production-ready AI integrations within backend services.
* Build and maintain backend services using Python frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask.
* Design and manage data layers using PostgreSQL and Redis.
* Ensure clean, maintainable, and well-documented code aligned with best practices.
* Own delivery timelines, technical quality, and system reliability.
* Mentor, guide, and review work of engineers across the team.
* Conduct code reviews, technical planning, and architectural decision-making.
* Collaborate with product and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Core Qualifications and Competencies:
* Strong hands-on experience in Python backend development.
* Mandatory hands-on experience building and deploying AI-powered systems in production.
* Proven experience integrating AI into real-world applications (not limited to research or experimentation).
* Strong experience with FastAPI and/or Flask.
* Solid experience with PostgreSQL and Redis.
* Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized deployments.
* Proven experience leading engineering teams and owning end-to-end delivery.
* Strong people management skills including mentoring, performance reviews, and delivery ownership.
* Current or recent experience as a Tech Lead or Senior Engineering Manager.
* Comfortable splitting time equally between coding and leadership responsibilities.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
* Experience with Kafka for event-driven systems.
* Exposure to Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
* Experience designing and working with microservices architecture.
* Understanding of multithreading and concurrency concepts.
* Experience deploying systems on cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
