EdgeCase is building “local internet in a box” so people and communities can access digital content even when connectivity is intermittent, expensive, or fragile. We’re hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to act as the system architect and lead implementer for our platform.

About EdgeCase
EdgeCase is a social enterprise focused on bringing access to affordable digital content to people and locations without reliable connectivity. We combine edge devices, satellite/ISP backhaul, and offline-first software to deliver internet-like experiences where traditional networks fail. You’ll join early, work closely with the founders, and shape both our architecture and our product.

The role
This is a senior individual contributor role.

You will:
Act as the system architect and primary implementer for core parts of the EdgeCase stack.
Design and build features across front end, middle tier, and backend.
Turn real-world requirements (limited power, patchy networks, offline users) into robust, production-ready systems.
Own technical quality: code structure, testing, performance, and reliability.
Collaborate with a small engineering team and founders on roadmap and trade-offs.
Mentor other engineers as the team grows (without formal people management).
You’ll spend most of your time designing systems, writing code, and reviewing code, with a clear line of sight from your work to impact on real users.

You’ll thrive in this role if you…
Enjoy building systems from scratch and working across multiple layers of the stack.
Write clear, maintainable, well-tested code and intuitive documentation.
Are comfortable with ambiguity and fast learning in an early-stage environment.
Can move fluidly between high-level architecture and deep implementation.
Care about good engineering practices and about shipping into messy real-world conditions: limited connectivity, unstable power, “interesting” networks.

Required qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.
6+ years of professional software development experience, including building and maintaining production systems.
Strong coding skills in several of the following: C, C++, Rust, Java, JavaScript, Python, HTML5, MySQL, Postgres (You don’t need all of them, but you’re fluent in more than a couple and happy to learn others.)
Experience building full-stack applications (front end + backend + database).
Experience with a cloud-based environment (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
Experience managing or troubleshooting networks, with solid knowledge of common networking protocols.
Understanding of how telecommunications systems work (cell networks, ISPs, satellite internet) – or strong willingness and aptitude to learn quickly.
Fluency in English.
Ability to commit 100% of your time to this role.

Preferred qualifications
Master’s degree in computer science or related field.
Familiarity with internet backhaul technologies (fiber, microwave, satellite, etc.).
Experience with data pipelines or big data architectures.
Experience working in or alongside network operators, ISPs, or satellite providers.
Experience helping to shape engineering practices and mentoring other developers in a small team.

What we offer
Competitive salary.
Paid leave for health or family needs.
Support for your professional growth (courses, conferences, learning budget).
Flexible, hybrid / remote-friendly work and a healthy approach to work-life balance.
A chance to work on a hard, meaningful problem at the intersection of connectivity, edge computing, and social impact.
