**Job Title:** Lead Software Engineer

**Job Description:**
* Lead the architecture, development, and evolution of SME lending, payments, and financial services platforms.
* Own and scale core backend systems built primarily in Java, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
* Partner closely with product, risk, compliance, and operations teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
* Design and implement integrations with payment gateways, banking partners, and credit scoring and risk management systems.
* Establish and enforce engineering best practices across code quality, system design, testing, and documentation.
* Lead and mentor engineers, providing technical direction and hands-on support when required.
* Oversee system performance, stability, and incident response for mission-critical financial services.
* Drive continuous improvement through automation, monitoring, and performance optimization.
**Required Qualifications:**
* 8+ years of software development experience, including 2–3+ years in a technical leadership or team lead role.
* Strong hands-on experience with Java and modern backend frameworks.
* Solid understanding of financial systems, particularly payments, lending, and transaction processing.
* Proven experience designing distributed systems, APIs, and microservices.
* Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases and message queues.
* Strong problem-solving skills and sound technical judgment in complex environments.
* Experience in regulated or compliance-sensitive industries is a strong advantage.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
* Experience with SME lending, credit products, or loan management systems.
* Exposure to payments, wallets, or digital banking platforms.
* Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
* Background in high-growth FinTech or scale-up environments.
* Experience working with cross-border or regional systems (EMEA / MENA).
