About the Client

Join a high-impact modernization initiative for a leading UK PropTech company, where you’ll help transform a mission-critical legacy SaaS/TOM platform into a modern, scalable solution. You’ll dive deep into classic .NET monolith code to uncover and reshape complex business logic—an engaging challenge for engineers who love problem-solving at the architectural level.

This project offers the rare opportunity to rebuild both backend and frontend from the ground up using modern frameworks, cloud-ready patterns, and clean architecture principles. Expect a strong focus on engineering excellence: analytics and monitoring instrumentation, automated testing, CI/CD maturity, and maintainable code quality. If you want to leave a lasting technical legacy and work in a team that values innovation, this is the project for you.

What You’ll Do

Define and own the modernization strategy for a legacy .NET application, covering backend, frontend, and cloud architecture
Design modern solutions based on .NET 6–10, Azure services, monolith decomposition, and event-driven approaches
Lead the transition from WebForms to Blazor, ensuring scalable UI architecture and smooth migration of business logic
Architect the decomposition of a monolithic application into domain-aligned services, ensuring reliability, observability, and maintainability
Collaborate with engineering teams to implement cloud-native patterns (API gateways, messaging, containers, distributed caching, resiliency)
Oversee application hosting modernization using Azure Container Apps, SQL Server Managed Instances, Azure SQL Database, Azure Landing Zones, Front Door, and App Insights
Ensure security best practices, authentication/authorization (OAuth2/OIDC), API security, and cloud compliance standards
Create architecture documentation, diagrams, guidelines, and technical roadmaps
Mentor senior engineers and guide development teams through modernization phases
Participate in design reviews, proof-of-concepts, and technical spike initiatives

What You Bring

10+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture with strong foundations in .NET and C#
Proven experience modernizing legacy .NET 4.x / WebForms systems into modern .NET Core/8+ platforms
Hands-on expertise designing frontends using Blazor, including component architecture, state management, and integration patterns
Deep knowledge of Azure cloud services
Strong understanding of microservice architecture, domain-driven design (DDD), event-driven patterns, and distributed systems
Experience defining migration roadmaps, refactoring strategies, and modernization patterns (strangler fig, side-by-side refactor, lift & shift + optimize)
Strong background in CI/CD, DevOps collaboration, and architecture considerations related to observability and performance
Excellent communication skills, ability to work with stakeholders across technical and business domains

Nice to have

Experience with message-driven platforms (MassTransit, NServiceBus, MediatR)
Knowledge of frontend modernization strategies (component libraries, UX migration)
Previous experience in real estate, facility management, or enterprise asset management domains
Experience performing architectural assessments, audits, or modernization consulting

English level

Upper-Intermediate
