**DevOps/Cloud Engineer**

**Project Description:**
The role involves acting as a center of excellence, defining standards and best practices for research computing, developing standard tooling, and migrating existing codebases to standard models. The engineer will collaborate with research scientists to provide scalable, secure, and efficient solutions, allowing scientists to focus on their research. This includes handling service integration, containerization, database optimization, and cloud operations. The engineer will also partner with the data and analytics platform team to improve infrastructure capabilities for research use cases. This is a hands-on role for individuals who enjoy re-engineering complex codebases, simplifying integrations, and improving the work of others.
**Responsibilities:**
* Collaborate with scientists and informaticians on the development and upkeep of big data and high-performance workflows, particularly using Nextflow and BigTable.
* Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines in GitHub and Azure DevOps.
* Develop and maintain cloud-native solutions, primarily on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with secondary experience in Azure.
* Write clean, maintainable Python code and shell scripts to automate infrastructure tasks.
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the entire stack, from cloud services to local environments.
* Develop, promote, and teach good infrastructure-as-code practices and DevOps standards.
* Work with infrastructure engineers to improve platform capabilities for research.
* Adapt to new scientific domains and technologies, establishing best practices.
**Requirements – Must have:**
* Deep experience in GCP, especially with BigQuery and Cloudrun. Azure or AWS experience is a plus, particularly in automation.
* Broad DevOps experience, including containerization and CI/CD (GitHub actions preferred, Azure DevOps a plus).
* Deep Python and shell scripting experience. Strong Java experience is highly desired.
* 3+ years of Terraform experience.
* Deep experience with HPC workflows; familiarity with HPC to cloud migrations is highly desired.
* GCP Big Query optimization is a plus.
* Nextflow pipeline development and deployment experience is highly desired.
**Requirements – Nice to have:**
* Experience in Life Science.
* Languages – English: B2+
