**About the Role:**
We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to design and implement robust engineering processes and platforms. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of DevOps principles, extending beyond tooling to foster effective collaboration among development, infrastructure, and security teams. The ideal candidate will architect scalable, secure, and repeatable solutions to enable rapid software delivery while maintaining high standards. This is a system-wide role focused on establishing best practices, shaping the software development lifecycle (SDLC), integrating security into pipelines, and developing platforms that empower teams. While hands-on technical involvement is necessary, the primary contribution will be in architectural leadership, strategic decision-making, and process optimization.
**Responsibilities:**
* **Process & Platform Design:** Design and evolve end-to-end SDLC with built-in security, compliance, and operational controls. Define governance requirements, establish clear responsibility boundaries (RACI), and translate business and risk requirements into technical guardrails.
* **Collaboration & Mentorship:** Act as a technical partner to development teams, coach engineers on reliability and deployment safety, facilitate cross-team discussions, and document architectural decisions.
* **CI/CD & Automation:** Architect and maintain CI/CD platforms for fast, reliable, and low-risk deployments. Standardize pipelines and environments, and reduce operational toil through automation.
* **Infrastructure & Cloud Architecture:** Own Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and design cloud architectures in Azure and AWS, focusing on reliability, scalability, and cost awareness. Ensure environment parity and support containerized and Kubernetes-based platforms.
* **Reliability & Observability:** Define and implement SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets. Build observability (monitoring, logging, tracing) and lead incident response practices.
**Requirements – Must have:**
* 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure roles.
* Proven experience in process design.
* Strong hands-on experience with Azure, including Azure DevOps.
* Deep understanding of CI/CD architecture.
* Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
* Experience with containers and Kubernetes in production environments.
* Proficiency in automation/scripting (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
* Experience with monitoring, logging, and incident management practices.
* Ability to explain complex technical and security topics clearly and non-confrontationally.
**Requirements – Nice to have:**
* Experience in regulated or compliance-heavy environments (Life Sciences, Finance, etc.).
* Experience introducing or evolving DevOps/SRE practices in organizations with existing silos.
* Cloud or DevOps certifications.
* Experience with microservices architectures and API-based systems.
* Understanding of database systems (SQL and NoSQL).
* Previous mentoring or informal technical leadership experience.
