Solutions Engineers at Okta are involved in all stages of a customer’s digital transformation. They are skilled in using presentations, email, phone, and social media for customer engagement. The team focuses on educating customers on best practices in cloud security technology through tailored product demonstrations. **The Solutions Engineer, Auth0 Opportunity:**
Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Solutions Engineering, Strategic Auth0, the Solutions Engineer acts as a functional business consultant with a passion for technology. This role involves developing, positioning, and demonstrating product-specific solutions during sales cycles to achieve quarterly and annual sales goals for an assigned territory.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Act as a technical and domain expert for customer-facing sales teams, helping customers understand the value of Okta’s solutions.
* Understand customer challenges and business issues, and provide product demonstrations that align Okta’s solutions with customer needs.
* Respond to product feature and technical questions from customers, partners, and internal colleagues.
* Plan and deliver Proofs of Concept for customers with complex use cases, collaborating with other Okta engineering teams as needed.
* Provide feedback to product management on product enhancements that address customer needs.
* Share best practices and reusable assets with other Solutions Engineers to improve team quality and efficiency.
* Stay current on competitive analysis and market differentiation.
* Support marketing events, including executive briefings, conferences, user groups, and trade shows.
* Potentially lead teams as a subject matter expert (SME) on various product solutions or competitive knowledge.
**Qualifications:**
* **Identity and Access Management (IAM) Expertise:**
* 5+ years of pre-sales engineering experience in IAM.
* Strong understanding of IAM concepts, including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SAML.
* Experience with lifecycle management, role-based access control (RBAC), and provisioning/deprovisioning.
* **Technical Proficiency:**
* Hands-on experience in at least one of the following development areas: web (JavaScript, HTML, frontend frameworks), mobile (iOS, Android), backend (Java, C#, Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby), or IP-based real-time communications.
* Experience with REST APIs, API Gateways, and SDKs.
* Experience deploying applications on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Vercel, etc.).
* Understanding of core security concerns in applications (e.g., password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, XSRF).
* **Customer Engagement & Communication:**
* Passion for serving customers, demonstrated in a customer-facing role (pre-sales, consulting, or support).
* Ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly, including on-the-fly whiteboard explanations.
* Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting to experienced audiences.
* **Strategic & Organizational Skills:**
* Territory management skills, including pipeline building and collaboration with sales counterparts.
* Experience with diagramming for user journey flows and complex architecture diagrams.
* **Education & Travel:**
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or a comparable field is preferred.
* Typically requires 25% travel.
**Bonus Qualifications (Not Mandatory):**
* Experience with Auth0, Auth0 FGA, or OpenFGA.
* Hands-on experience with Generative AI or LLM technology (e.g., LangChain, GenKit, LlamaIndex).
* Experience integrating with microservices, data lakes, or customer data platforms.
* Experience developing ReBAC or Fine-Grained Authorization models.
**Compensation:**
The annual On-Target Compensation (OTE) range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington is between $152,000—$228,000 USD. This includes base salary and incentive compensation, and may also include equity and benefits.
