**About the Project**
We are seeking a **Senior Data Engineer** to join one of the largest insurance companies in Europe. The project focuses on bringing AI/ML models into production within their cloud environment. It’s part of a long-term, multi-year transformation program, and the engagement is expected to be ongoing.
**Role Overview**
The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and optimising data pipelines and models, collaborating with architects and stakeholders, and supporting customers in their digital transformation journey. The role requires hands-on expertise in **Azure Data Engineering** and strong communication skills in a cross-functional environment.
**What you’ll be doing**
* Build and maintain trusted customer relationships.
* Design and implement data pipelines, models, and transformations, ensuring the use of best-practice data engineering.
* Mentor junior team members and facilitate knowledge sharing.
* Support pre-sales initiatives with your Data Engineering expertise.
* Contribute to reusable accelerators, patterns, and metadata frameworks.
* Collaborate with internal and customer stakeholders to develop high-quality data products.
**Requirements**
* **Experience:** Minimum 5 years in Data Engineering, including at least 3 years specializing in Data/Big Data solutions on the Azure platform.
* **Technical Expertise:** Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Databricks. Familiarity with related tools such as Power BI, Purview, Cosmos DB, Data Lake, and SQL DB.
* **Data Architecture & Pipelines:** Proven ability to design scalable, secure data pipelines, data architectures, and enterprise-grade data warehouses.
* **SQL:** Excellent command of SQL for data modeling, queries, and performance optimization.
* **Azure Infrastructure:** Good understanding of Azure infrastructure services including Networking, Identity/Entra, ARM templates, Bicep, and Terraform.
* **DevOps:** Experience with CI/CD pipelines and release management, preferably using Azure DevOps or GitHub.
* **Ways of Working:** Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience working in Agile environments.
**Nice to Have**
* Microsoft Azure certifications.
* Knowledge of Data Science or Generative AI.
* Proficiency in German.
