**Job Title:** Forensisch onderzoeker wapens munitie en explosieven (Forensic Investigator Weapons Ammunition and Explosives)

**Location:** Georgia (though the content points to Politie Nederland, suggesting a job in the Netherlands, possibly posted on the Georgia LinkedIn domain). The internal text mentions “Oost-Nederland” (East Netherlands).

**About the Role:**
Do you have an affinity for illegal (fire)arms, ammunition, and explosives (WME)? And are you looking for a challenging role in this field? Then check out this unique position at the Forensic Investigation Team in East Netherlands. Are you up for the challenge?

**What will you do?**
As a forensic investigator WME, you will independently conduct investigations in the field of firearms, ammunition, and explosives. This role focuses on all forensic investigation where the type and origin of firearms, ammunition, and explosives are important for the investigation.

More specifically, this means you will:
* Secure firearms.
* Analyze the connection between firearms and ammunition.
* Investigate, among other things, the technical operation, brand, type, and caliber.
* Investigate manufacturing methods and origin of firearms.
* Describe, categorize according to the Weapons and Ammunition Act and determine criminal liability.
* Conduct shooting tests and have casings recorded in the National Collection of Bullets and Casings (LVKH).
* Contribute to bullet trajectory reconstructions.

Additionally, you will support tactical and thematic investigations, such as searches, when necessary. You will record your findings and conclusions in an official report. To prevent unwanted trace transfer and to ensure the chain of custody, you work according to standardized methods and disciplinedly follow generic procedures in administrative areas. The possibilities in forensic investigation methods, techniques, and resources are developing rapidly. It is crucial to keep up with these developments.

Working in Forensic Investigation is unpredictable. This means you must be willing to work irregular hours and/or take on on-call duties and/or standby duty when necessary.

**Where will you work?**
The Forensic Investigation unit of the police is one of the main actors in the investigation process. Every day, hundreds of colleagues in this field contribute to making and keeping the Netherlands safer.
The FO East Netherlands Team consists of 192 FTE and is divided into various specialisms, namely:
* 1st line investigation at the crime scene or incident scene (in the case of FO-traffic).
* 2nd line investigation by laboratory technicians and experts.
* A front desk where planning and prioritization of deployments take place, as well as advice regarding forensic investigation, forensic information, and item management.

**Who are you?**
You find it challenging to play a prominent role in investigations where truth-finding is central. You have an eye for detail and work accurately. It is important that you can handle found traces (and trace carriers) very carefully, safely, and often under pressure. You are sufficiently technical and understand the mechanical and chemical operation of firearms, ammunition, and explosives.

You also have an analytical, tactical mindset and are vigilant against tunnel vision. For good case documentation, you are able to write clear and understandable texts. You consistently set high standards for the quality of your work and keep up with developments in quality. Moreover, you can reflect on your own work and dare to admit mistakes.

You are able to maintain professional distance from the human suffering you encounter and deal resiliently with shocking or confronting work environments. You are a confident person who stands firm. When you are securing evidence at a crime scene, all eyes are on you. You are not only a calling card for the Weapons, Ammunition, and Explosives Department but also a point of contact for the East Netherlands Unit. We are looking for a team player who shows initiative, sees work to be done, and thinks broadly. Some knowledge of investigation/VAT/VVC processes is a plus.

Additionally, you have:
* MBO 3 working and thinking level*
* Forensic experience.
* Knowledge and/or experience with the field of forensic firearm investigation.
* Insight into (weapon) technology.
* A driver’s license B.
