Job description:
As a Lead Manual Tester, you will take full ownership of our manual testing function. You will lead quality efforts across backend and platform features, define test strategies, introduce best practices, and act as the quality gatekeeper before each release. You will work closely with Product and Engineering, proactively identifying risks, improving processes, and ensuring the team delivers stable, high-quality releases. This role requires strong senior-level judgment, autonomy, and the ability to influence how quality is built into the development lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
* Own and define test strategies, coverage, and quality standards across projects
* Lead creation of detailed test plans, acceptance criteria, and regression suites
* Perform and guide functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory testing
* Conduct API validation using Postman and assist in backend investigations
* Validate data accuracy and event-driven behavior across distributed systems
* Ensure high-level defect management: clear documentation, prioritization, and follow-up
* Participate in grooming, sprint ceremonies, and release readiness with a decision-making role
* Identify quality risks early and drive mitigation plans
* Continuously improve QA workflows, documentation, and tooling
* Support and guide team members on QA methodologies when needed
What We’re Looking For:
* 5+ years of manual QA experience, ideally in SaaS, Fintech, or highly technical environments
* Familiarity with programming concepts, scripting, or automation fundamentals,
* Strong senior-level understanding of QA methodologies, SDLC, and Agile frameworks
* Experience validating backend-heavy systems (data flows, events, integrations)
* Proven ability to design complete test strategies, acceptance criteria, and regression frameworks
* Hands-on experience with API testing and event-driven flows (Postman or similar)
* Strong analytical skills and advanced defect troubleshooting/reporting (Jira or similar)
* Ability to identify edge cases, risks, and gaps in requirements early in the development cycle
* Confident communication skills and ability to influence cross-team quality decisions
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics is a plus
Nice to Have:
* Experience with Kafka or other streaming/event-driven technologies
* Exposure to automation practices or tools (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Postman collections, or CI integrations)
* Coding background or hands-on scripting experience in any language (JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Go, etc.)
* Familiarity with TestRail or similar test documentation platforms
* Basic SQL for validating data integrity (PostgreSQL preferred)
* Understanding of real-time, multi-tenant, or iGaming architectures
* Interest in or exposure to automation frameworks
