About The Role: We are seeking a Deputy Head of Engineering to serve as the technical guardian and right-hand person to the Head of Engineering. This role involves ensuring architectural integrity, security, and technical excellence, bridging high-level strategy with day-to-day execution.
Tech Stack: Node.js, Next.js, TypeScript, Cloudflare, AWS, Postgres, Supabase, Drizzle, Prisma, Growthbook, Mixpanel, Google Analytics, GTM, AI integration, MCP.
Key Responsibilities:
* Architectural Guardrails: Ensuring adherence to established company architecture and approving architectural changes.
* Rigorous Code Review: Maintaining high code quality, identifying bottlenecks, and ensuring best practices.
* Project Bootstrapping: Hands-on involvement in deploying and configuring new projects (CI/CD, environment variables, hosting).
* Security & Compliance: Implementing and overseeing code-level and hosting-level security measures.
* Innovation & AI Adoption: Leading the implementation of new technologies, focusing on AI-driven workflows and MCP.
* Growth Engineering: Managing technical aspects of A/B testing and data tracking.
* Technical Leadership & Hiring: Conducting technical interviews and mentoring developers.
* Continuous Improvement: Proactively identifying and replacing outdated practices.
Qualifications:
* 3+ years of intensive experience with Node.js & Next.js.
* 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
* Solid experience with AWS and Cloudflare, including CI/CD pipelines and cloud resource management.
* Deep understanding of Postgres and experience with modern ORMs (Drizzle, Prisma).
* Proficiency in setting up and interpreting data from Mixpanel and Google Analytics; experience with A/B tests.
* Strong knowledge of web security principles.
* Excellent communication and resilience, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
