Junior AI Engineer at SKRIB

Location: Remote / Hybrid / Tbilisi (Axis Towers Business Centre) Type: Full-time

We offer a flexible work environment. You can work fully remotely, join us in our Tbilisi office (37M Ilia Chavchavadze Avenue), or choose a hybrid model.

Timezone Requirement: Our team operates across GMT+4 (Tbilisi) and GMT+1 (Prague). As our Head of AI is based in CET and the rest of the technical team is in GMT+4, remote candidates must be able to ensure significant working hour overlap with these zones for synchronous collaboration and mentorship.

About Skrib
At Skrib, we’re building the future of writing. We are focused team on a mission to create the ultimate AI-powered workspace for creators. As an early-stage startup with significant momentum, we have secured our initial funding, built our MVP, and are now preparing for public launch.

The Role
We are looking for a high-potential Junior AI Engineer to join our foundational team. In this role, you won’t just be tuning prompts, you will be building the intelligent engine behind Skrib.

You will work directly with our Head of AI and the core engineering team to develop agentic workflows, document processing pipelines, and logic that powers our writer-focused AI. This is a unique opportunity to learn rapidly and contribute to a product where AI is the core feature, not just an add-on.

What You’ll Do
Build & Integrate: Develop and maintain Python-based services that integrate AI models via APIs into the core Skrib platform.
Develop Agents: Design and implement agentic systems capable of tool use, multi-step reasoning, and executing complex workflows to assist writers.
Tame Unstructured Data: Build and refine OCR pipelines to ingest PDFs, images, and scanned documents, converting messy, unstructured inputs into clean, usable context for our AI.
Data Wrangling: Handle, clean, and organize diverse datasets to improve model performance and reliability.
Rapid Prototyping: Experiment with new LLMs and techniques to solve unique problems in the creative writing domain (e.g., plot consistency, character tracking).
Collaborate: Work closely with the frontend and backend teams (via Slack/Discord and video calls) to ensure AI responses are delivered efficiently to the user interface.

What We’re Looking For
Python Proficiency: Strong fundamentals in Python. You write clean, maintainable code and know your way around standard libraries.
AI Foundations: A solid conceptual understanding of LLMs and transformer-based models. You know how they work, not just how to call an API.
Agentic Curiosity: Exposure to (or strong interest in) agentic systems. You understand concepts like chains, tool use, and memory management.
Data Handling: Experience or hands-on practice with OCR pipelines and extracting information from messy sources (PDFs, images).
Startup DNA: You are highly motivated, possess a strong work ethic, and are comfortable working with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
Growth Mindset: You are a self-starter with a willingness to learn quickly and work independently to solve problems you haven’t seen before.

Compensation & Application Process
We are committed to fair and competitive remuneration. Specific salary expectations will be discussed as part of the initial interview process.

Please note that due to the high volume of applications we anticipate, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Why Join Skrib?
Massive Impact: As a foundational member of our small startup, your work will directly determine how “smart” our product actually is.
Join at a Pivotal Moment: Be part of the core team that takes our product from MVP to a successful public launch and beyond.
Global Collaboration: Work within a distributed team structure, collaborating across Tbilisi and European time zones.
Learn by Doing: Gain deep, practical experience with the latest technologies in AI, from RAG pipelines to autonomous agents, under the mentorship of senior leadership.

A Note on Privacy and Equal Opportunity
Data Privacy: Your privacy is important to us. All application materials will be used exclusively for the screening process for this specific vacancy. Equal Opportunity: Skrib is a proud equal-opportunity employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or any other legally protected status.

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
Python: Strong coding fundamentals in Python.
AI Knowledge: Basic understanding of LLMs, Transformers, and prompt engineering concepts.
Data Processing: Experience dealing with unstructured data and OCR tools (e.g., extracting text from PDFs/Images).
Timezone Availability: Ability to overlap working hours with GMT+1 (CET) and GMT+4 (Tbilisi).
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills (crucial for remote/hybrid collaboration).
Soft Skills: High motivation to learn and ability to work independently without constant supervision.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with AI frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, or AutoGen.
Experience building and deploying Python APIs (FastAPI, Flask, etc.).
Familiarity with Vector Databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector).
A portfolio or GitHub repository showcasing personal AI projects or experiments.
Ability to start immediately.
