**Role Description**
Senior Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing database systems, tools and applications using the Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Azure platforms.
* Development and support tasks related to different components of Microsoft SQL Server and Azure platforms.
* Implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure data is accurately and efficiently captured, transformed, and loaded into the data warehouse.
* Develop, optimize and maintain complex SQL queries and scripts for data extraction and transformation.
* Create and manage data pipelines to facilitate the flow of data between various systems and the data warehouse.
* Ensure data quality, integrity, and security through robust testing and validation procedures.
* Optimize data architecture and processes for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
* Develop and generate reports and dashboards using BI tools (SSRS, Power BI) to provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
* Monitor and troubleshoot data warehouse application performance and resolve issues and bottlenecks.
* Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data engineering, data warehousing, and reporting.
**Qualifications**
* Proven ability to provide solutions to complex technical problems in a creative and analytic manner.
* Should be proactive and responsible; able to work without constant supervision.
* Proven success as a team player having extensive experience in a team- oriented environment.
* Ability to work and communicate in a multi-culture, diverse environment.
* 3+ years of proven practical experience as Data Warehouse Developer, as well as solid knowledge of Data Warehousing and ETL concepts.
* 3+ years of experience and solid knowledge of MS SQL Server.
* Solid knowledge of TSQL language; skills to write efficient TSQL code.
* Experience in performance tuning on SQL query / execution plan / data model level.
* Experience with SSIS or any other ETL tool.
* Experience with Power BI, SSRS or any other BI/reporting tool.
* Experience with the following technologies is considered a plus:
* Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory.
* Experience with Big Data (Spark, Hive and Hadoop eco-system) and/or data warehousing technologies (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Teradata).
* Any of the following programming languages: Java, Scala, Python, C#
* Accuracy, attention to detail and awareness of deadlines
* Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
* Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
* Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
* Track record of working on projects that delivered different types of business and IT outcomes
* Proven record of training, mentoring and providing ongoing support of architecture best practices to all IT stakeholders.
* Able to reach out across the organization and communicate with people at different levels, with diverse needs and agendas; related capabilities include facilitation and teaming skills.
* Proven abilities of technical writing and documentation
* Fluency in English required
